Descriptive phrase: poor-quality townie Italian. I ventured out to East Troy for an event that was held in the "banquet hall" at Roma's Ristorante. The whole restaurant, especially the hall, is pretty dated, but what do you expect out this far? They had tables set for us with salad plates, dressing, and dipping oil for bread already laid out. Usually this indicates salad and bread should be coming shortly; this was not the case. We didn't get any salad or bread until after we ordered, about 45 minutes after we all came and sat down. The salad was fine, with standard greens and tomatoes, but all three of the dressings (ranch, Italian, French) were heavy and like syrup. The bread was definitely the highlight, tasting fresh-baked. We were all confused that the hall had a stocked bar yet we were forced to leave the hall and go into the restaurant's bar area to order any drinks. Sticker shock: $4 for a small (~12-14oz) glass of draught beer. This is small-town East Troy, not Milwaukee. Maybe they knew we weren't locals. Katie K. and I split the Sicilain Pizza. Thursday nights feature any large specialty pizza for $10 (normally $14ish). For the amount of food you get it's a deal, but not for the quality. Our pizza came out with just cheese, basil, and tomato slices. We had asked for sausage as well, but they forgot to put it on. We were too hungry to wait for them to remake the pizza (this was about 2 hours after we had sat down for dinner already), so we let it slide. The Sicilian just wasn't very good; I've had better frozen pizzas from the store. The service was extremely nice, but they had to abide by odd rules. They were allowed to bring us our checks, but not give us the special price for that night. We had to go back into the other bar and tell them we had the special and pay there. Go somewhere else if you're stopping in East Troy.

I recently treated my son and his family to a pizza dinner at Roma's. To their credit the pizza was wonderful. My issue came when I tried to order a pizza special that was advertised in their own paper menu that I picked up as I entered the restaurant. First the waitress told me that is a to-go menue only. When I pointed out that the menu stated eat in or take out the waitress said it didn't matter anyways since that special was not available. WTF? As I was paying the bill I asked the hostess the same thing and she also said it was a to-go menu only. So to wrap this up, it was a great pizza with questionable service. Can you say bait and switch?

I've lived in town for a long time & frequented this place a few times over the years. The pizza dough is often gooey. Go to papa Murphy's and do your own first.... This is supposed to be an Italian place I thought... So why does everything taste like it comes from a box or freezer? Go to Napoli's in Burlington to discover what fresh from scratch Italian food taste like instead. They used to have karaoke on Fridays, the people and staff are okay. They just seem to work for an owner or manager that doesn't give a flip about the business... But when they have their karaoke running well I'd say the pub is a fun place. Bingo & occassional performers keep this part of the business in an okay status. Often the men's room is unkept and my gal says the ladies room isn't any better. Cleaner sometime at the BP gas station down the road I'll still try their food now and then hoping to see a change, but my last says no way... My guess is that until the place is sold and our managed better to expect more of the same. Other options for dining in town such as Ivans, Gusse's for fast food, Barley's when they reopen after their fire, and even the Grist meal are safer dining options in my opinion.

Sub par everything. I went with a group of six people all who ordered different meals. When our food came it was as if they took the exact same bucket of chicken and pot of noodles and poured different sauces on them to make them different meals. Their pizza is the best thing on their menu but still isn't anything special, you'd have better luck going to a real pizza place.

What do you get when you don't season ANYTHING? One star. The food here is horrible. They run a great deal of specials, which should scare anyone away. The crab legs special is terrible. The salad bar is horrific. The pizza... don't eat it. The pasta.... freezer burn.

I've been to Roma's twice. The first time, we were one of two families in the restaurant, yet still waited a fair amount of time to get our food. (I don't even recall if it was good or not). The second time was this past week with my family. Again, it wasn't very busy, maybe 4-5 parties seated. We were sat immediately and given menus. After glancing at the menus, it appears prices have gone up. Most dishes were $10+ and none really looked appealing to me. While waiting at least 5 minutes for the waitress to come greet us, and still mulling over what I wanted, we finally decided to just get up and leave and go to another restaurant down the road.

Three stars because the food was worth it. The customer service (at least our experience tonight in particular) is what keeps this place at a three. This was our second time dining at this location and have learned that we are probably going to place a to go order next time since our previous service was lackluster.

I went with a group of people. the thick crust pizza dough was completely raw in the middle. the other food was over priced and bland. if you stop here, stop in the bar. the drinks are the only things worth spending dollars on.

We were in town visiting with family and this was their choice on where to take us. I am a pretty regular yelper so I checked in and got quickly discouraged by the reviews. The theme in the restaurant was nice however the waitress was not very cheerful. We decided to order simple and went with pizza. It arrived fairly quickly to our table and tasted fine. I have given them three stars because everything about it was just OK!

After wiping someone else's crumbs from our booth, we sat down hungry to order. The soup was average. Once our food arrived we were informed that our appetizer was being enjoyed by another table...nice! The waitress was very kind and apologetic. Then, the lasagna had but one piece of meat and we're still looking for the cheese. The chicken was all of only 1-2 oz. This "Taste of Sicily combo" cost more than what it actually was. At least, the pasta portolo was tasty. Overall, we won't be back.

Taste of Sicily was inedible. It all was obviously microwaved and the chicken parm was deep fried long ago and over done. The fettuccine Alfredo was icky. Nothing was home made. Everything tasted old. The only nice thing was the waitress. I would never go back.

Have eaten here 3 times in last 9 months. Had Clams Linguini twice in the restaurant and the Steak Special in the bar. Linguini was superior, bruschetta good, EVOO for dipping was average quality (try Trader Joe's California Estate - Consumer Reports Best Buy). Tiara Misu was very good. Steak dinner was very good, perfectly done, but a little grizzly. Bartenders make a good pour.

Disappointed. As a restaurant owner I like to visit other places from time to time. We stopped at Roma's tonight. I have eaten here 3 previous times, the first 3 times were great. Tonight our service started by sitting down and waiting 10 minutes before our waitress came to greet us. I would be more understanding but the restaurant was practically empty which suggests that we should not have waited that long, what made it worse is that our waitress (Irene, I think) was talking to some table for those 10 minutes. Finally came over, we ordered, food came. My dad ordered Alfredo & Scallops, the scallops were gross, chewy and as a cook I know they were probably microwaved. We partially ate some of the food before deciding that we didn't want anymore. We waited for the waitress, she was back at that table as she had been the entire time we were there talking to those customers again. We got up went to the hostess station asked to pay and left. I'm not a very lucky person but I've been here before and I have had good experiences but this was ridiculous. Lack of management and interest by the staff. Very unprofessional as our waitress yelled the cooks name "Juanito" as she was walking into the kitchen. I hate to give bad reviews especially since I own a restaurant but I would like to know if something like this happened at my business.

Keep on driving, this Italian joint in a metal shed has a lot of room for improvement. The dining room appearance and decoration is very tacky. The service was good. We ordered a pizza with a fried eggplant appetizer. The eggplant did not taste like freshly prepared eggplant and was cut into very thin French fry like strips. The serving size was also extremely small for the price you paid. The pizza was pretty bad mainly because the crust tasted like it was something prepared out of a box. It had a paper like texture and bland tast. Typically I would expect a thin crust to be crispy. I could have cooked a better pizza with no effort at all. The bathrooms were also dirty. At least their bar area was full, I guess if they can't make good food, the locals have a place to get drunk.

We hadn't been to Roma's in years. (In the past we'd liked it very much, but wait 'till I tell you...) We went for the fish fry, it being Friday. Appetizer calamari was over-fried, which makes it tough. Salad bar was very minimal--Roma's doesn't really have a space for a decent salad bar. We didn't get time to enjoy our appetizer--The main meal came a minute or so after the calamari was served. "Baked" cod was perhaps steamed instead--It came with a pool of water in the plate. It was a little tough. Seasoning on the cod was OK. Fried perch was OK. Potato pancakes were gooey in the middle. Coleslaw tasted salty. There was a loud-talking party of 6 across the aisle from our table--people, you're in public--where are your manners?? But I don't hold this against Roma's; they can't very well tell their patrons to quiet down. As a big plus, our waitress was helpful, attentive to our needs, and cheerful. But their chef needs to got back to culinary school.

Not a very clean place. Steak was not flavorable. I can not recommend this place.

Expensive and both my fiance and I didn't even eat our meals! The service was almost nonexistant. We love eating out and are very hard to displease but this place was by far the worst experience and has even became a laughing joke of ours...BAD!!

OK, I saw the negative reviews. I came here for fish fry with my brother and sister-in-law. It was crowded, so we sat in the bar(lounge) for 20 minutes, waiting for a table. My brother is a really fun guy. How fun is he? He's so fun, he just had a Packer party for the last game, and he bought 160 dollars worth of junk food! He does a non stop commentary of the game, and he's just hilarious. The Packers almost lost, and when it was looking bad, he says, "A lot of people in Green Bay are gonna be commiting suicide tonight!" This bar would be a great place to watch the game; they have eight flat screen TVs!!! You can eat in the bar, and the bar tenders are super friendly! They have a beautiful saltwater aquarium. So, the fish fry wasn't bad; it was cod. The baked potato was good, the cole slaw was very good and the clam chowder was the best clam showder I ever had in my life! Not kidding! Would I come back? Oh yeah. Thursday is Ladies Night in the bar, and ladies drink FREE after 9PM!!!!!!
